In 2014, my friend Tobi and I turned a road trip through Tuscany into a musical treasure hunt.

For years, the mix lived on SoundCloud as a happy memory—until an old DJ rivalry resurfaced in the worst way.

I took a MP3 Player with me with about 800 Songs from various sources I haden’t had time to listen to. So he drove through Bavaria, Austria to Italy while I was in control of the music on the passenger seat.
We made this deal. We put the Player in shuffle mode. The song had 30s of our attention and was skipped to 1 min after about 15s. If not interesting - next. If interesting for both of us, I wrote down the Track info in my mobile and – next. We did this for the whole week every time we drove somewhere.- To Pisa, to Florence, to San Gimignano, etc.

Back at home I sorted through the files and made a mix of the essential tracks. Later, I submitted it as „JBScott’s Sunday Joint“ to the „Blogrebellen“ Blog of Walter M. in Berlin. He liked it and posted it with a very flattering review on SoundCloud where it got a couple of thousand likes. A couple of years later Walter and I, a former Dj colleague of mine from the KPO Scene in Munich in the late 90s had a stupid Facebook online skirmish about "me too". He got butthurt, I guess and still is, took the mix down and refuses to talk to me to this day. It’s funny how a week of perfect harmony on the road could unravel over something so small. I still play that mix sometimes—now just for myself.
