In early 1993, Fernando N. (aka DJ Darkshinobi) was introduced to the electrifying world of Hardcore Techno by friends, and instantly became hooked by its fast, distorted beats. His deep connection to the music can be traced back to his roots in the New York Hardcore Punk scene, where he grew up listening to bands like Vision of Disorder, Madball, Subzero, Snapcase, Neglect, Shutdown, Strife, and E-Town Concrete, among many others. The raw energy and rebellious spirit of hardcore punk naturally aligned with the intense sounds of Hardcore Techno.
By 1996, after immersing himself in the rave culture, DJ Darkshinobi decided to start collecting vinyl as a hobby, spinning tracks for local friends within the Long Island, NY rave scene. His dedication and passion soon caught the attention of local promoters, and by 1999, he was playing at house parties, underground raves, and outlaws. This growing recognition made him realize it was time to take things to the next level and invest in his own set of decks, marking the beginning of a long-term commitment to the craft.
Dedicated to the power of Hardcore and its subgenres—Hard Techno, Drum & Bass, and NeuroFunk—Shinobi is all about the music. His mixes are a reflection of his journey, channeling his inner mood and energy through every track. With exceptional mixing skills, signature cuts, and an undeniable stage presence, he’s not here for fame or ego; his mission is clear: to obliterate eardrums and speakers in the most electrifying way possible.
Since then, DJ Darkshinobi has never looked back. His passion for the music has only deepened over the years, constantly evolving as he channels his energy and emotions into each of his sets.
