This one is a little bit special to me, as Jungle is what really inspired me to start mixing and eventually buying a set of battered second hand 1210s. It was the year 1995, and amidst the Acid Trance and House & Garage that was all over Brighton there would be the odd back room at warehouse parties and clubs playing Trip Hop, Big Beat and Jungle, plus the mighty One in the Jungle show emerged on Radio 1. Bored by all the 4/4 business and inspired by those brand new broken beats I'd soon spend all my time and pocket money digging the crates at record shops along Western Road and the Lanes. Here's some of the tunes that got me excited during that golden time when Drum & Bass was still in its innocent infancy.
