A Piece (the Bluesy head developed in 1989- '90?) that made me think of one of my IDOLS after playing and developing... The Great, "McCoy Tyner (RIP)!" I can't quite do him justice being a Drummer by trade! From 1970 through 1996 I saw him and his differing groups more than any other artist/composer... At least 20 times when he came to the S.F. Bay Area... A true original as well as continuing the great John Coltrane spirit and power through his playing style! The most Rhythmic Pianist I ever saw and I Love his compositions from ballads to blinding speed post bop, latin, blues, swing, big band, etc... Also dug his choice of great young artists as well as veteran masters and he always let his band members CUT LOOSE!
