recorded in amsterdam 6 months before the german invasion.
in a silent moment of the last movement "der abschied", a woman from the audience walks straight to the mic and speaks up "deutschland ueber alles herr schuricht?"
schuricht was one of mahler's most loved conductors and, despite being german, no nazi.
music is never political, we heard this before, right?
